When is it best to have a 3D/4D/HD Live Scan?

For the best results we recommend 25-32 weeks even though we have been able to get amazing pictures before and after this. At your 12 week hospital scan, ask where your placenta is so you know when booking future scans.

Anterior Placenta (at the front) come from 25 weeks.

Posterior Placenta (at the back), come from 26 weeks.

Scans can give great results outside of this time frame but this is dependent on the position of the baby and where the placenta is sitting. HD is the most up to date technology in ultrasound scanning and makes your babies features seem even more life-like, giving more depth to their eyes, lips and nose.

When can I find out the gender of my baby?

Sexing scans can be performed from 16 weeks.

Please note that before 16 weeks the accuracy rate drops dramatically. If you did want to find out the gender of your baby before 16 weeks, we can perform a Gender Blood Test from as early as 6 weeks and the accuracy rate is 99.9%.

When should I have my Early reassurance scan?

We recommend coming for an Early Reassurance scan from 7 weeks. However, baby's heartbeat can be seen from 6 weeks so if you are sure the first day of your last period and have a regular cycle, you can come from 6 weeks.

How do I prepare for my scan to try and ensure my baby is in a good position and active?

Please note that there are many factors that will affect whether we are able to carry out the scan but following theses simple tips will improve the results:

Make sure you are relaxed as your baby can feel your tension and won’t want to move about

Please ALWAYS attend your scan with a full bladder, if baby is not in a good position, emptying your bladder can help to move them.

Keep active and make sure you take a little walk before your scan

A meal before you come to Baby Bump will be sufficient or a healthy snack such as a Banana
